Welcome

Try Lower Stress LivingModern life has us running from one situation to another, whilst trying to cram as much in to our lives as we can, not always by choice!!Slow down for a minute and take a look at our lifestyle.

How much of what we fill our lives with is worthwhile, do we really need to do all the activities, if we did nothing for a week, would the world fall apart?

Well no of course it wouldn’t, but in the stress filled modern world it is easy to get caught up in doing things that we feel is either needed or expected of us, when really there are not as many tasks that need to be fulfilled as we may think.

One of the main side effects to all the hustle and bustle is the deterioration of our own well-being. We never give ourselves a chance to relax, purge the stress and recharge. We understand that there are certain things we should do to improve our health and well-being, but unfortunately there are also unhealthy quick fixes, usually things that we consider enjoyable and they help to relieve the stress, like smoking, drinking and eating sugary foods.

When asked, a smoker would usually say that cigarettes help to get them through the rigors of a stressful day, keeping them in a more controlled and calm state of mind.

You don’t need to be a doctor to know that smoking is not good for you, but it can be very important in the here and now to help the day pass more smoothly. Smokers should know that one of the most common smoking related deaths is the extra stress put on the heart by smoking, in fact the extra stress caused by smoking is the equivalent of carrying around a substantial amount of extra body fat.

Eating sugary foods and snacks are another vice that we use to make ourselves feel better, cheap to buy, easy to eat and available from just about anywhere. The instant sugar rush we receive lifts and gives us energy, but when it wears off it leaves us craving more, and so it is all to easy to fall in to a cycle of jumping from one sugar rush to another, which can lead to being overweight, obesity and on to possible heart disease.

If you are thinking to yourself “I don’t eat snacks” but you do eat instant and take away meals, then you also have high sugar and salt levels in your diet.

Alcohol can be used to relieve the full demands of a stressful day, but as with other stress relievers, if left unchecked, it can become an addiction rather than an enjoyable way to wind down.
